I was reading on the Wikileaks website that Bank of America hired third party intel companies to attack Wikileaks. Amongst these companies were Palantir (which a couple of my friend's friends work at), HBGary Federal, and Berico Technologies, all of whom collaborated in a presentation on how to respond to Wikileaks. In addition to cyber attacks on the Wikileaks server, the firms also suggested trolling in social media outlets and "identifying risky behavior of employees."
In conversations with people, I've heard both sides of the Wikileaks debate. While some academics believe that Wikileaks is the first true transparent news outlet (because it provides information directly from primary sources), others believe that it inhibits diplomacy and unnecessarily ratchets up tensions. What do you guys think?
